Business Meeting Minutes

Quorum – 3 elected group reps present with 3
months sobriety. Motion to allow group reps
without 3 months sobriety to vote. Only 3
group reps present, so we don’t have quorum.
Department Reports

Chairperson (Peter S) – Review of agenda

Recording Secretary (David B) – Review of August Minutes. Include cost of Go Daddy hosting:
$136.57. Review of September minutes. Clarifications on September minutes. We don’t have quorum, so we can’t vote, but we recommend these minutes for approval next month.

Corresponding Secretary – (open) – Kim is still acting Corresponding Secretary.

Mailing Report (Kim B. & Lisa P.) – Two e-mail reci
pients were added. Two USPS recipients
were deleted. The September USPS mailing was sent t
o 43 recipients on September 29
th
. The
email mailing was sent out on Sunday, 10/05/14 to 2
33 recipients. Both the USPS mailing and
the e-mailing included the October NEI Newsletter,
the flyer for the November Fall Gathering,
and the flyer for the December 12-Step Vermont Week
end.

Phone Coordinator Report: (Peter S.) – In September
the answering service received 133 calls.
The volunteer responders returned 7 calls. There w
ere also several attempted returned calls in
which no contact was made with the person who left
the message. Of the people we reached
there were:

In response to internet and phone requests, three p
ackets of meeting list and S.L.A.A. info were
mailed out. One additional meeting list only was m
ailed.

Meeting List Report: (Lisa P.) – The Cambridge, MA
Thursday 7:00 a.m. Men’s Only True Grit
Early Bird Meeting has disbanded. There is a new R
ecovering Women’s Group meeting two
Saturdays per month in Pawtucket, RI at 4:00 p.m.
A contact name and phone number was
provided and is in the printed meeting list for add
itional information.

Treasurer (Bob G) – We’re doing ok for 7
th
Tradition donations and money. Treasury report wi
ll be
reviewed and voted on at the November NEI meeting w
hen we have quorum.

Literature (David B) – Sold $110 in literature in S
eptember and $207.50 in October. We have 3
books left. That may be enough for the Fall Gather
ing. We have plenty of everything else.

Activities Committee (Peter S) – 20 attended the Ve
rmont Retreat last weekend. There was an issue
with people looking at their phones and texting dur
ing meetings, wouldn’t turn them off or silence
them. We’ll bring this up at the November meeting.

Outreach (Wil C) – Wil is working on outreach packe
t, including updating the “What Is NEI?”
pamphlet. There may be a new Thursday meeting in O
rleans, MA (on the Cape). Wil will try to
attend and make sure they register their meeting.
Prison Outreach: Wil received a “good guy” letter

literature to the correct meeting.

ABM Delegate (Wil C) – Start thinking about IFDs an
d Motions for next year.

Newsletter (Rich N) – Quote is ok, it relates to th

Step (November). David will contribute an
article about electronic devices during meetings.

Web Site (Lisa P) – There’s an issue with different
platforms. It may be due to the free theme. Web
Site Committee may need money to buy a tested, cros
s-platform theme. There are pages that need to
be developed. The landing page looks good. Other
pages still need work. Committee is splitting-up
work to write text for various pages. Bob will wri
te on 7

Tradition and David will write on
purchasing literature.

Group Reps Reports (if any) – Friday Night “Steps f
or a Sober Weekend” is doing well. They pack
the small conference room with 12-18 people.
Old Business
1.
Monday Night Provincetown meeting has two affiliati
ons – Meeting wants to be listed on NEI
meeting list with dual affiliation. Round Robin di
scussion. Peter and Patrick will email the
meeting contact to say we can’t list a meeting with
dual affiliation.
2.
Group Inventory Committee – We have Stephen F from
Connecticut willing to run it. We’ll have
to do it 1 hour ahead of time. We still don’t have
a date. Peter will email format with
announcement that we will discuss at November NEI m
eeting.
New Business
1.
David will contact Newton-Wellesley Hospital about
reserving AR 345 for meetings in 2015.
