Sex & love addiction can cause so much pain and suffering and sometimes death. What is so funny about that? Many find that by sharing our antics/stories we put a light on just how extreme our thinking/actions can be in the\nmidst of addiction. In recovery we can laugh with each other\, keep things in perspective\, and experience new emotions. This session is about how bringing humor and laughing into our lives has played a part in our recovery and healing. \n1:45 – 2:45 PM\nSession 2: Acting Out/In vs. Recovery. “Acting Out” is to engage in addictive behavior. “Acting In” is to engage in actions that are isolating or withdrawing in nature. Both reflect avoidant behaviors that are harmful to us. Each person in S.L.A.A acts “out” and/or “in” differently\, but with help from a Higher Power\, our sponsor\, and recovering addicts we can move to recovery too. The S.L.A.A. program can help us stay sober and start living a life without active addiction. This session is about how we recognize our addictive patterns and admit powerlessness over them. That allows us to get help to stay sober from our patterns and start living a life of recovery. \n3:00 – 4:00 PM\nSession 3: Recovery: the Promises. When we are more active in recovery by working the Steps\, some of the promises can start to occur even if we haven’t finished Step 9. This session is about how the promises have manifested in our lives and what we do to keep the promises alive today. \nThis event is open to anyone who identifies as a sex and/or love addict or is interested in finding out about recovery from this addiction in the S.L.A.A. program \nWe look forward to seeing you soon! \nSIGN UP HERE\n

SUMMARY:Fall Gathering 2026
DESCRIPTION:Fall Gathering 2026\n50 Years and Still Growing\n\n\nSaturday November 7\, 2026 10:30am – 4:45pm (EST)New England Intergroup (NEI) of Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous present:\n\nIn-person Location:\nGrace Episcopal Church\n76 Eldredge St.\, Newton\, MA 02458\nThis is a hybrid (in-person & virtual) recovery event \nFall Gathering Flyer \nSchedule \n10:30 am Registration \n10:45 am Keynote Speaker(s) \n12:00 pm Lunch Break \n12:30 pm Session 1 – A Vision for the Future of SLAA in New England\nMarking fifty years of SLAA\, this session looks forward — naming why the fellowship’s meeting infrastructure has lagged behind other twelve-step programs (like Alcoholics Anonymous)\, and laying out a vision for closing that gap right here in New England. \n2:00 pm Session 2 – Compulsive sex and love addiction behaviors also provide ways to distance ourselves from experiencing intimacy. Some of us can’t even name our needs. Beneath the surface\, anorexia consists of not doing something. This session explores the avoidant\, anorectic side of sex and love addiction. \n3:30 pm Session 3 –  Healthy relationships (e.g.\, romantic\, familial\, platonic\, sponsorship\, higher power\, self\, etc.) can bring challenges and can also be frontiers of exploration along the recovery journey. “It is very hard to achieve a healthy relationship if you keep the emergency brake on\, and the emergency brake is the fear of abandonment\,” as stated by a seasoned S.L.A.A. member. In this session\, we will learn about how to set (and maintain) healthy boundaries\, let go of fantasy\, and move from neediness to love. \nThe day will include registration and time to speak with other recovering people\, followed by keynote speakers’ shares on the event theme\, and three (3) 1 hr 15 min recovery topic sessions.  Come for the whole day or whatever parts work for you\nIf you can help contact: activities@slaanei.org \nPizza and salad will be provided for lunch. Some participants may plan to have dinner together following the event (everyone included). A list of nearby restaurants will be available. \nCONTRIBUTION: $18.00 – More if you can\, less if you can’t.
