ANNUAL EVENTS

  • NEI Spring and Fall Gatherings – Twice a year we organize S.L.A.A gatherings which usually include keynote speakers and discussion sessions focused on topics of interest to newcomers and those in recovery. Information on our Spring 2019 Gathering will be available soon.
  • 12-Step Retreat Weekends in Chester, Vermont – the weekend takes places at a retreat house in Chester, Vermont. These retreats take place 4 times per year: March, July, Sept/Oct and December. We review the 12-Steps from the S.L.A.A. Basic Text over the weekend. The retreats are not only about sharing experience, strength, and hope, but there is also a chance to have lots of fun and laughs as well! Review the Vermont 12-Step Retreat page to access the registration form.
  • Anorexia 12-Step Retreats, Chester, Vermont  The Anorexia 12-Step weekends take place in Chester, Vermont. We will be scheduling the next 12-step Anorexia weekend soon so watch this page for updates. Anorexia is defined as the “compulsive avoidance of giving or receiving social, sexual, or emotional nourishment” in the S.L.A.A. pamphlet called “ANOREXIA Sexual, Social, Emotional” published in 1992. If you have attended a 12-Step S.L.A.A. Vermont weekend before, the format of the weekend is similar to other weekends except that at this weekend we will be using the Anorexia Step Materials being developed by S.L.A.A.  Review the Anorexia 12-Step Retreat page.

NEI has hosted a variety of events which have previously included a summer picnic/BBQ at Ponkapoag in Canton, biking the Minutemen bike path in Cambridge, canoeing on the Charles River, bowling, corn maze in Central MA, Fall Stroll at World’s End in Hingham and we have even hosted a talent show.  Are you interested in helping to arrange any of these events again or have other ideas for events you might want to host?  There is a Committee which meets to plan these events – email the Activities Committee for more information.
